I can’t believe it! After months of slow, steady, and tender activity… Zara’s quilt is finished.
Random (perhaps disturbingly so for purists) piecing – with plenty of over-patching. Fabrics collected from all over, and some precious vintage Japanese kimono fabric dotted about (the diamond). A repeated motif of giraffe-ish dots on some Kaffe Fasset which is echoed in the Modafabrics border, and a variety of corals (Mr Fasset again, and some heirloom reproductions).
Cream backing fabric, with a deep brown border and red-overstitching on the border to tie in the red from the quilt. The rest is done with white perle.
Zara feels very special to finally have it on her bed.
And mama is happy, but wistful that it is finished. I honestly thought when this one was done, my work would be finished, but I’m feeling itchy for another one already….
Perhaps next year.
