I’ve been busy on the quiet – getting to know the knitting machine a bit better – considering weights of fabric created, washing, testing, seeing what works and what doesn’t.
I am really loving the combination of cottons, and cotton and wool (as above). A fine black cotton, stranded with a fine (slightly fluffy and knobbly) brown wool. The resulting fabric reminds me of very soft bark, holds itself in a fold or a twist and is comfortable to wear.
It is beautiful to stitch on, and the addition of applique feels natural and personal and a fitting extension of the fabric.
I am considering doing more of these – whimsical for kids and with wabi-sabi restraint and patching for adults and revamping my etsy store which is a bit neglected and lacking in direction.
She still scares me – this monolith of a machine, but we are coming to understand each other a bit better – and I’m starting to love her for what she is. Lovely. 🙂
