I hate it when plans, visions and opportunity fall over into a heap and reveal themselves to be a pleasant view and not a destination.
I was a bad mother yesterday – intent on completing the first of what was hopefully a few skirts using the exciting new pattern.
The construction was a bit fiddly, but not troublesome, and while it took me a little while and a lot of verbal distraction and a DVD to keep Zara entertained I was eager to try it on.
Oh crap. It looked crap. And it felt crap. The metal thread running through is prickly on the legs in a skirt that is close fitting. I do have enough fabric left to make one that is a different shape – I will persist – the fabric is just so stunning. And, I’m a glutton for punishment. The intention now is to take the skirt and use it to cut the back of a jacket. Fingers crossed that works.
And in the meantime Zara had entertained herself by taking a handful of felt-tip pens and drawing all over Matteo’s beautiful quilt. ….
Today – we will perhaps go to the park instead.
oh, bugger.
how utterly disappointing. and not to mention matteo’s quilt… ack!
good day for the park, though. 🙂
How disappointing for you! Would a lining save the skirt? Or perhaps an extra panel to give a bit more fullness? It does look beautiful….
You mean to say Zara isn’t on life support and can still walk well enough to enjoy a trip to the park??
Pinry beat me to the idea of a lining to save the skirt. If it’s really scratchy, a double layer of something like bem silk could save your skin – and pantyhose 🙂
Think yourself lucky you didn’t design a pair of Kylie-style hotpants…..
Arghk. I feel your annoyance. Yes the park sounds very, very good. Or a long walk at the least.
