It’s rainy days like these, when it’s nice to stay inside, take things slowly, and savour the gentle moments we take for granted.
Things like, the satisfaction one gets when cleaning out the crumb tray on the toaster, nestling clean bowls together, washing up after a successful breakfast and loading the washing machine.
Deciding to top-stitch the quilt for my son by hand (instead of the scary, erratic attempt by machine that was not quite working), and discovering it is quiet and contemplative instead of laborious and a chore.
The smell of pumpkin, garlic and rosemary slowly roasting for soup at lunch time.
Small gumboots, splashing in puddles, and squeals of delight on the trip to school this morning.
Getting dry again.
Having a nice warm house, enough food, people to love, broadband, and things to take care of. Simple things, complicated things made simple. Simply wonderful. 🙂
