You may think I’m a bad mother…….
Zara has decided she doesn’t really need sleep. She is 2.5, and full of energy and wonder. Into everything (particularly the kitchen cupboard and hidden chocolate), and exploring all manner of activities.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s great. It’s just that it impacts on my painting time, and that makes me ratty and nervous. The treasure, does go into her bed quite happily, and cheerfully rests for at least an hour – at top volume. Singing, and banging, hammering the wall with her feet. Having a great time – as you do.
Sometime soon, however she is going to have to go from her cot into a real, true, proper bed, and that scares me quite a lot. You see – she won’t be contained.…..
I imagine that I will be having to paint at 3am to meet commitments, as she madly scurries all over the house at what was previously nap-time. Never produce my best work late at night, and I do needs me rest.
To induce afternoon sleeps – we have been taking very long walks in the mornings. She is such charming company, and a delightful companion on a walk. Plus it seems to work. Rainy days make this difficult – but we so need the rain. Sometimes we walk in the rain…..
We walk. we walk a lot……
