I made the decision this week to try to get greener without being silly about it. The italians have a saying that translates to something like ‘If you want to boil a frog you have to start with cold water’ – meaning that if you put the frog in boiling water it will jump straight out – but if you slowly boil the water the frog will get used to it gradually – until it doesn’t even know it is cooked. Bad analogy really when we are talking about global warming – but you get my drift 😉
So, this morning at the supermarket I decided to take another step in that direction, and include a few energy-saving globes with my weekly shop each week. They are expensive, but apparently last longer – saving landfill, and cutting down on electricity bills. Win/win. Or not. Made in China they are. Damn.
So now what do I do…. I tossed them from one hand to the other considering the fact that they had come so far, were made by underpaid workers, would save me money and aid in my attempt to help stop global warming (pardon the pun)…..
I bought one pack. I still feel guilty.
