Matteo and Mummy surrounded by hearts on Mothers Day
Happy Mothers Day to any mothers reading. I hope you had a special day and were looked after and cherished.
My day was bliss. We had a family party at my beloved Aunt’s place with my mother, her husband, my little family, Grandmother, 2 Uncles and too much food. There was much celebrating with a few of us having had birthdays, Mother’s Day for many, and Mum’s husband retiring 2 days earlier. Presents all round, a swim in the spa and pool, and declarations of love and appreciation given and received.
My precious boy had drawn me a beautiful drawing. Everything he creates is meaningful to me – a reminder that he is here and growing and changing every day. The perfect thing to have as a reminder of the day as far as I’m concerned.
The rest of the weekend was a blur:
Loads of washing still to be done – 4, Loads of washing done – 3, Kitchens to be cleaned – 1, bathroom to be cleaned – 1, Sick child that needed masses of attention – 1, Well child that needed masses of attention and was feeling insecure – 1, Studio that needs to be cleaned out so my beloved Father can sleep there on Tuesday night – 1. The list goes on and on really.
It doesn’t seem to matter how much time I spend on any part of the house – something suffers – be it children, organisation, cleanliness, my art and sanity, my marriage. I’d say life would be easier if we were all still living in the trees, but I do like my comfy bed and the fact that I can throw said load of washing in a machine, and bring it out to hang on a washing line.
It is, however, wonderful to be a Mum, and I’m so lucky to have been so thoroughly blessed with offspring who inspire and delight on a daily basis.
