I don’t even know where this week has gone! Whoosh – like the past years – a sort of comfortable blur of happiness, with patches of inconvenient hard work and domestic drudgery.
Yesterday (Wednesday) my early birthday present to myself arrived. 3 (so excessive) completely beautiful and inspiring knitting books from Amazon. I trawled the web to read others critiques of these books, then placed the order, and prepared to settle in for the wait – unbelievably – a week later they are here! I’m soooo happy with them too.
When I’m not painting, playing, cooking or enjoying domestic drudgery, I like to knit. I’m a bit obsessive, and not terribly skilled, but my stitches are neat – so as long as it’s a simple pattern with no lace or anything that requires concentration I’m in heaven. I did start by making things for my kids, but they grow out of them so fast…… They do still get wonderful subtley colourful stripy creations, but I’m starting to make more things for myself. I have almost finished a winter cardigan in the softest Alpaca from Bendigo wool in a heavenly rusty red, and I’m enjoying every stitch of that. It’s so soft and cuddly and the colour is food for the eyes.
This week I am satisfied, and hopeful, excited, nurtured and nurturing. Plus the rain has come! and oh how we all need the rain. 🙂
