It’s 11.30pm as I write. I am back from dinner with friends – where kids frolicked, and prepared an impromptu performance. There is a cake in the oven for tomorrow, when family will gather to celebrate mother’s day, to raise a glass to my grandmother (our first mother’s day without her), wish my aunt and mother a good journey as they take her ashes to Scotland, and meet extended family (in my mum’s case for the first time).
And also to celebrate my birthday.
Eeek!
I’ve been thinking all day about how some years fly by and other crawl. This has been a speedy one. With great things to record, and some that were difficult but necessary. On the whole it has been a year of growth for me, and I feel all over again how true it is that each year we become more who we are. I am so much more comfortable in my skin than I was in my 20’s (and not because of the extra padding). I am much more social and actually enjoy meeting new people now (it was once such a chore). This settling within is a lovely thing, and I wouldn’t be a day younger again for anything.
How lovely.
Making me happy big time:
- Embracing Vegetarianism
- Being able to paint and get what is in out – and have people buying works.
- The company of creative people – on-line and off.
- My camera and what it captures.
- My kids.
- The sun, the rain and how we are transformed by these things on a daily basis
this and this and this and this.
and you.
