Dreamhouse by the dam, oil on linen, 2008, 91cm x 91cm.
New work from me.
Feeling quite giddy after a week of painting woodwork in the house. The fumes from the enamel paint combined with the hot weather are unlovely and unhealthy, so I’m taking a break today, and wandering around looking at the bits that need one more coat before I can rip off the masking tape.
It’s peculiar how the paintwork has changed the internal profile in a subtle but significant way. The white paint is making the dark wood invisible, and, like a new short haircut, altered how I see bits of furniture, artworks etc… I feel like moving everything about and finding new ways of living.
I feel like painting every wall and ceiling. Not by myself of course. I’m over that already. Oh dear.

This is really neat! How do you like painting on the linen surface? I’ve been painting on board and I like the smoothness. Been thinking about linen though.
Great work. Love your home transformation- sometimes it’s the little things that have a huge impact in a space.
Oh sometimes we are freaky Michelle!
First it was the house tidy mission now it is painting. I have just spent the weekend painting the lounge….now it looks like it breathed in a big breath of fresh air…it feels so much better!
I too am sifting and sorting…I think I am making room for new things to come into my life, you know?
Happy painting to you
