3rd big session painting
I’m feeling really good about this piece. Like all my favourites I lose it for a little while, then bring it back, and gain something in terms of knowledge along the way. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it’s getting closer to where I want [...]

New jumper/cardigan for Miss Z.
I had a huge ball of deep, deep red, but it became obvious towards the sleeve end of the project that I might not have enough, so subtle striping came into effect on the arms with a slightly lighter red.

Today my Dad turns 60, and I love him.
I am very fortunate to have him, and most importantly to know him. And that is certainly his greatest gift to me – being able to let me know him in all his shades and complications.
He is hilarious, and witty, intelligent, silly, indulgent of others, [...]

It’s been a while since [...]

Being reminded again that the world is as you see it.
Fill it with problems and it will be heavy. Fill it with opportunities and it will seem light and wonderful.
One big mother of a canvas is being carefully prepared. 2 coats of gesso, 1 sketch, 1 positive artist itching to get her hands grubby with [...]
I hate it when plans, visions and opportunity fall over into a heap and reveal themselves to be a pleasant view and not a destination.
I was a bad mother yesterday – intent on completing the first of what was hopefully a few skirts using the exciting new pattern.
The construction was a bit fiddly, but not [...]
Finding Beauty

It’s nice to be reminded every so often that there is beauty in the everyday – and using the viewfinder makes it more concrete for me.
Ordinary – extraordinary, everyday.
