I do wonder, sometimes, if I alone enjoy a slapstick existence, or if everyone – in the privacy of their own homes, gets along as I do. My husband thinks I am careless, and should go about more carefully, but truthfully I don’t know how.
Most days follow a similar pattern of chaotic progress, each [...]

new work – underpainting in progress.
A laboured day’s painting yesterday. Spent hours on the naked lady (Saturday morning) did the final touch ups on Sheepish, and in my last explosive 2 hours of freedom before picking up the kids I did 2 underpaintings for my Anthropomorphie series. One is a mermaid, which I’m quite excited [...]

I must be CRAZY! Or actually, what I should say, is…. be careful what you wish for.
At the beginning of the year, on my list of wishes for my art was another joint show, and a solo. Well they are both coming up in November – at the same time. Um, yep.
I am usually very [...]

Today I just need a bit of quiet rest and recuperation….
Yesterday was fun and noisy – my neice turns 6 tomorrow and a party was held in her honour yesterday. So much leaping, eating, chatting, smiling, tears, and tiredness. Lovely and memorable. We gave (on request) a Bratz doll. Weird looking things they are, and [...]

Saturday morning – work in progress
Still going with this painting. I’m enjoying it, but oh it’s slow……. I keep going back and thinking – the background should be darker – no, the figure should be darker…… I’m leaving it for a coupld of days before I touch it again and make a mess.
My [...]

I bought these shoes a couple of years back – thinking they were so fab, and loving the unusual mintyness of them. A mintyness so fab, that nothing I have goes with them. Genius – don’t you agree. They wern’t even on sale…..
They have never, been worn, and yesterday got a good strip and scrubbing [...]

1st sketch on prepared canvas – about 1m sq
Underpainting. All in place compositionally. Now I need to work out final colours, and build up some layers…….
Last night I pored over a book from the library on Brett Whitely. The man was brilliant. It’s very sad that he died so young, and (when you’re looking at [...]

Bloody Japanese Pattern Books. That’s all I have to say…….
I made this hat for Miss Z, forgetting that the crown was to be cut on the bias for a reason….. Hilarious. Never mind. We do know some babies that may be interested. Better luck next time.
Yesterday I made the front cover [...]

Feeling Sheepish, Oil on linen, 2007
I think I may have finished this work. It’s been quite absorbing, and fun, and is a true continuation of my Anthropomorphie series.
Tackling oils has been a difficult thing for me. I was nervous, and excited in the beginning, but anxious about all the hazards, physical clean-up, and the medium [...]
I am, unfortunately greedy. In the face of abundance I hold out my arms as wide as they will go and load up. I collect, I hoarde, I consume, I absorb.
Take me to the pictures, and you’d better not speak to me – I’ll be sucking up every word and image. Take [...]
