Tweed Valley abstract by Nat Hiller
I do love art, and having things around me that make me feel happy. I also believe when I’m blessed by someone buying a work of mine, I should put some good kharma back into the world by making an art purchase every so often as well. It’s hopefully win/win. I get something to remind me I was blessed, and someone else can enjoy being blessed – and perhaps pass it on.
I fell seriously in love last week with a new work by an artist currently based in Brisbane, Australia. His name is Nathaniel Hiller. He originally comes from Hobart – where I grew up, and spent some time in Melbourne (though I didn’t meet him) so I’ve been watching his work develop with interest.
The piece above is called Tweed Valley Abstract, and it’s 120cm wide x 100 deep. Lots of green, and drips and an Escher-esque play with perspective – the latter two being things I’m finding in my own work – which perhaps explains why it spoke to me. In any case, I love it, and will get it framed when I can afford to with one of those big chunky flush-frames that look so great.
It was such a thrill to see it online, ask if it was for sale, to be able to afford it, and to have it now. Amazingly the good kharma still seems to be sitting with me. I hope he’s feeling some too.

looks great! Where are you going to hang it?
